Partner with the Atlas Service Corps!
If you are a nonprofit
/ citizen sector organization in the United States, ask
yourself these questions:
ASC: What a difference an international volunteer
could make at your organization?
ASC: Would you expand your staff if you could hire
someone at half the cost without sacrificing quality?
ASC: There are people overseas doing similar work
that you are doing -- are you fully taking advantage of the best
practices that exist in your field?
The Atlas Service Corps (ASC) -- half the cost,
twice the experience, and three times the affect for the global
community -- simply the best volunteer program in the world.
Types of Partnerships:
There are various types of partners with the Atlas Service Corps
ranging from international citizen sector organization (a.k.a.
NGO) partners, corporate partners, academic partners, US citizen
sector organizations (a.k.a. nonprofits), U.S. community based
organizations, and student groups.
International CSOs: ASC is seeking to partner with CSOs in India
and Colombia who can nominate rising stars in the developing sector
to participate in the ASC Fellowship. Fellows need to have 3-5
years of experience, be fluent in written and spoken English, and
be superstars in their field. ASC works with CSOs in a wide variety
of fields related to the Millennium Development Goals. (Learn more
about what issues we focus on.)
Corporate Partners: ASC is seeking to partner with corporations,
typically multi-national companies, but also corporations large
and small located in Washington, DC and the State of Delaware.
Corporate partners are funders who are choosing to invest in our
model of social change, but also benefit from opportunities to
interact with some of the rising citizen leaders in other countries.
Corporate Partners who donate $100,000 a year are invited to interact
with Fellows at networking dinners twice a year as well as opportunities
to mentor Fellows on a more personal level during their Fellowship.
Other corporate partners could support ASC with in-kind donations
and receive global recognition for their generosity.
Academic Partners: ASC is seeking to partner
with academic institutions in the east coast of the U.S. to provide
ongoing education opportunities
for the ASC Fellows. Partnerships could range from helping with
the August training program to providing a speaker at the once-a-month
continuing education program providing to Fellows on subjects
related to the citizen sector. (For students who want to partner,
see below.)
U.S. CSOs: ASC seeks to partner with U.S. Citizen
Sector Organizations (a.k.a. nonprofits) located between Philadelphia,
PA and Northern,
Virginia to host an ASC Fellow on a one-year Fellowship
from July-August. The first Fellowship will begin July 2007, however
applications for partnership are being taken now and will be settled
nearly one year in advance. The details of this partnership are
laid out below, but essentially the U.S. CSO receives an all-star
from the developing world with 3-5 years experience in a simi liar
field to volunteer at their organization full time. This individual
will not only give of their time and talent, but also learn from
the host organization. U.S. CSOs will be required to cost-share
this individual for $16,000, but the ASC will pay for training,
health insurance and related expenses.
U.S. Community Based Organization: ASC is seeking
to partner with community organizations like religious groups,
community associations,
Rotary Clubs, etc who want to support international service. US
CBOs located on the east coast could host a dinner & speech for
one of the ASC Fellows. CBOs could raise funds to sponsor a Fellow
and then interact with that Fellow during their fellowship. Perhaps
an Indian-American Association or Colombian-American group would
be interested in supporting a Fellow to support a citizen sector
leader from the country their family originated. For $10,000 an
organization can cover all of the expenses for that Fellow to come
to the United States.
U.S. Student Groups. ASC is seeking to partner with student groups
who want to support international service. No one better than students
understand the global nature of today's world and the importance
for not only countries, but CSOs to work together across borders.
Perhaps community service organizations (like Alpha Phi Omega or
an Environmental Club), or cultural groups (like a Latin American
or South Asian Society), would be willing to partner with ASC.
Partnership would
mean helping
sponsor a Fellow from overseas. Depending on the level of partnership
it would also include having a speaker come to your campus, either
the founder of ASC, Scott Beale, and/or the Fellow the organizations
sponsored. A college group could sponsor 50% of the expenses of
a Fellow ($5,000) and ASC would provide the tools to help the organization
raise the funds through a kick-ass fundraising party.

Different Levels of Partnerships
for US CSOs:
The typical partnership for a US CSO is to sign up
by September 1, 2006 to become a primary host organization for
an ASC Fellows. However some organizations will not be ready to
sign the doted line before seeing the quality of the ASC Fellows,
so a second category of partnership is available called Probably
Host. These CSOs put down a $500 deposit for ASC to recruit high
quality candidates for them, but do not commit to taking a Fellow
unless they find one that they choose to host. If they do choose
a Fellow, they will owe an additional $16,500. The final level
of partnership is a Potential Host. A Potential Host likes the
idea of the ASC but is skeptical of the quality of the applicants.
These Potential Hosts state that they are interested, but not committed
in taking a Fellow. After Fellows are recruited and chose by the
Primary and Probably Hosts, then the Potential Host organizations
can cull the remaining applicants and decide whether they want
to participate. However, if they do choose a Fellow their cost
share will be $20,000.
Primary Host. |
Primary Host organizations sign a contract with
the Atlas Service Corp by September 1, 2006 to cost-share a
fellow for $16,000 from August 1, 2007 to July 31st, 2008.
Primary Host organizations will provide a $1,000 deposit that
will go towards their $16,000 total. Primary Host organizations
outline criteria they are looking for in
a Fellow
and ASC will
recruit
2-3
candidates
for the
Primary Host Organization to choose from in February 2007.
Primary Host organizations will be able to interview candidates
over
email and even by digital video conference. Primary Host organizations
will pick their Fellows before any of the other US CSO partners.
Primary Host organizations will also be given preference for
the 25% of Fellows who will be allowed to renew for a second
year. |
Probably Host. |
Probably Host organizations will sign a contract with the
Atlas Service Corps by October 1, 2006. They will provide a
$500 deposit and guidelines for the ASC to recruit a Fellow
for their organization. After the Primary Host Organizations
interview and choose their candidates in February, Probably
Host Organizations can then decide whether they want to choose
a Fellow. If they do, they will owe an additional $16,500 to
cost share for the Fellow for the year. |
Potential Host. |
Potential Host organizations like the idea behind the ASC,
but are skeptical of the quality of the ASC Fellows. Therefore,
they ask for their name to be kept on a list and in March 2007,
after the Primary and Potential Host Organizations choose their
Fellows, Potential Host organizations can review the resumes
of remaining candidates and determine whether they would like
to hire a Fellow. If they choose to, they will owe $20,000
for the cost-share. |
For the firs year of the Fellowship, ASC may have
as few as 4 Fellows and as many as 20. We strongly recommend that
organizations that want to work with ASC become Primary Host organizations
to benefit from being able to pick from the first round of applicants.
However, for those who are skeptical, please consider another category.
We are positive that the Fellows we recruit are among the best
in the world, that we are certain all probably and potential host
organizations will jump at the opportunity.
