St. John’s is a special church for us. Courtney and her mother attended service there when Laura Kramer visited Washington, D.C. and Scott volunteered with a homeless shelter there for while when he was a student. The church is quite historical, the original church building was started in 1796 and completed in 1804. Many people helped with the cost of building the church, including President Thomas Jefferson who contributed $50. Dolley Madison was also a regular attendee as well as Francis Scott Key, the author of our National Anthem. For more information about St. John’s Church, check out: www.stjohnsgeorgetown.org/.
