| Weekend Activities
Friday, May 26,
2006 to Monday, May 29, 2006
We want to encourage
our guests to make the most out of a three-day weekend in one of our
favorite cities in the world. For the large number
of people who are coming in from out of town, please treat this as a “destination
wedding” and take advantage of some of the following activities
we have planned.
|
Most
events are free, but when there is a charge we have indicated
so below. Whether free or not, please be sure to RSVP on
our web page so we can plan accordingly! (We won't be able to
attend every event - like the tours - but we plan to do most
of them.) |

White

Getting West Wing
tours is just about impossible these days, but we've arranged
a tour of the East Wing on Saturday morning for the first 40
who RSVPd. Space is full for this tour, so for the 40 people
who have already RSVPd and sent in their social security numbers
to Scott, we will be meeting in the lobby of the Mayflower at

Flag
Football on the Mall
Saturday 11:30
AM
On Saturday late
morning, guests can choose to relax, tour DC (below) or flag
football. Playing flag football on the Mall is one of Scott’s
favorite memories of living in Washington, so we thought it would
be fun to organize a game. |
Indian
Dance Party
Saturday 10:00
PM - The Indian Experience Restaurant, 1708 L St., NW
After our Sangeet
Rehearsal Dinner with the wedding party and family, we would
like to invite everyone to join us for an Indian Dance Party
at The Indian Experience Restaurant. Come with your best Indian
inspired outfit (or at least your dance shoes) and join us for
our last single night! |

Other
DC Highlights |
|
We wanted to organize
a large number of events to make visiting Washington, DC as easy
and fun as possible. But in addition to the above events, we
encourage you to check out some of over favorite D.C. highlights:
The Smithsonian Museums: Entrance
is generally free to a wide variety of museums on the Mall ranging
from the Air and Space Museum to the Museum of American History.
The
Holocaust Museum: There
is no entrance fee to this museum located on the Mall and it is
one of the most powerful exhibitions we’ve ever seen. If you're
interested in going, let us know and we may be able to get special
tickets for you via a friend who works there.
The
Spy Museum: There
is entrance fee to this museum, located a 6-7 blocks from the
Mayflower. It is a very fun display
of America’s spying history.
Memorials on the
Mall: All of the monuments on the Mall – Lincoln Memorial,
Vietnam War Memorial, Korean War Memorial, the Einstein Memorial, the
Jefferson Memorial, the FDR Memorial – are worth seeing, but
we especially encourage you to visit the World War II Memorial. This
is newest monument in Washington and is well worth the visit on Memorial
Day Weekend.
The Phillips Gallery
of Art: Located in Dupont Circle this is one of our favorite Art
Galleries. There is an entrance fee, but it is worth a trip for art
lovers.
The Shops in Georgetown: There
is great shopping in the streets of Georgetown. It is also an enjoyable
walk and great people watching at the intersection of Wisconsin and
M Streets, NW.
